In this section of the magazine, we will publish two chapters of the book Analysis and Behavior Modification, published for the first time in 1978 in Edizioni Bulzoni (Rome). This book contains the transcript of a seminar on “Behavior Therapy” that Victor Meyer conducted in February 1976, invited by the editors of this Journal, at the I Clinica delle Malattie Nervose e Mentali della Sapienza, University of Rome. It was the first book published in Italy to have illustrated in detail the modus operandi of Behavioral Therapy.

Vic Meyer, of Polish origin, was a British psychologist at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School of the University of London (now UCL Medical School) and is considered the “spiritual father” of clinical case formulation, an approach to understanding complex psychiatric problems using learning principles derived from experimental psychological research and idiographically adapted to the individual case to develop an effective intervention regimen.
